Annual Christmas Market at BMH Sat 8th Nov 10am-4pm

Annual Christmas Market at BMH

The fabulous annual Christmas Market will take place at Burton Memorial Hall on Saturday 8th November 2025, opening at 10am and continuing until 4pm. 
 
With 24 amazing stalls selling a wide range of items - ideal gifts for Christmas or for yourself. Follow the Hall on Facebook or Instagram for their daily Meet the Seller posts introducing the lovely stallholders.
 
They will also have the Hall's huge used bookstall, and for every stall you buy from you can claim one free book from the used bookstall as a bonus!
 
Delicious refreshments will be on sale all day in Jan's PopUp Café as well - her menu includes bacon butties, quiche, sandwiches, sausage rolls, and an array of yummy cakes, as well as hot and cold drinks.
 
Admission is £1 per person, accompanied under 12's are free.
 
This event is held in aid of Memorial Hall funds.

Memory Wheelchairs (Kendal)

Memory Wheelchairs is a local Support Group based in Kendal, providing wheelchairs and walking aids on a "loan out" basis when people are in need, on a short term basis. Learn more about their goals and progress by visiting their WEBSITE or their FACEBOOK PAGE

We can highly recommend this service to anyone who needs a loaned wheelchair or one of the other mobility aids that Sarah has in her stock. This is such a friendly helpful service, please do check them out and contact them if you have need of them.

Afternoon of song with Rachel Mercer

Burton W.I. and Burton Memorial Hall present an afternoon of song with Rachel Mercer on Saturday 18th October 2025 2-4pm. With songs from the 1940s until the present day, the afternoon commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Tickets are £5 each and include tea, coffee and cake, and are available from any W.I. member or by ringing 01524 781306.

Warm Welcome Wednesday at Burton Memorial Hall

The Warm Welcome Wednesday session at Burton Memorial Hall are still happening every Wednesday afternoon from 12.30pm until 3pm (note the earlier finish now). They still provide hot drinks throughout plus a two-course hot lunch at 1pm, all you need to do is turn up and enjoy it. The sessions are held in the Reception Room of the Hall, and the team are delighted to have been awarded a 5 star Food Hygiene Rating in August 2025.  If you'd like to know more or let us know you'd like to come and join in please call 01524 781306 (leave a message if no reply and someone will call you back).

Welcome to the Village Day

The next Welcome to the Village Day at Burton Memorial Hall will take place on Saturday 18th October, from 10am until 12noon. In addition to showcasing the groups and activities that happen in the village, there will also be delicious home made cakes at the coffee morning, plus the hall's huge used booksale, Kevin Preston's plant sale, plus in the car park you will find Kingsharp with the mobile sharpening van to sharpen your blunt things. All are welcome!

Hi there!

Are you looking to try out a new instrument or keep your piano playing ticking over during the summer holidays? I am available for one-to-one piano lessons either from my home in Burton or possibly at your home in the local area. I can also offer music theory lessons up to Grade 8.

I grew up in Burton, have just finished my second year as a Music student at the University of York, and I’m now home for the summer until the end of August.

I have been playing piano since I was 6, and have all piano grades up to Grade 7, and I’m currently playing at diploma level. I can teach students up to Grade 5 level. Lessons are £12 for 30 minutes, £18 for 45 minutes and £22 for 1 hour. Discounts can be offered for bookings of 4 lessons or more.

Knit and Natter at the Memorial Hall

The weekly Knit and Natter group at the hall meets tonight from 6.30pm - 8.30pm in the Club Room. Open to all, £2 per session, includes tea/coffee and cake each week. Bring your current WIP and chat with friendly others over their WIPs, or help plan and create one of the fabulous postbox toppers, or yarn bomb the village! Help is also available if you get stuck / as needed with a pattern or technique. 

Weekly Knit and Natter group at Burton Memorial Hall, Wednesday evenings 6.30-8.30pm.
