News from the Burton Sports Committee

As a committee we have been working on some ideas on how we can use the muga in a safe and fun way during these uncertain times. We can’t open it up for the public to use quite yet but we are working on it so in the mean we have some exciting activities to keep families of the village busy of the next 8 weeks.

First of all we are offering free tennis coaching with professional coach James Wright :-

3-4pm Full ball ( seniors anyone over 14yrs )
4-5pm Full ball ( seniors anyone over 14 yrs )

Next we are going to be offering free multi sports, training and fitness with qualified sports coach JWD Fitness (Joe Davison)

7-8pm - ( seniors / 14yrs and over )

If interested please contact Joe Davison on - 07907 624797

All these amazing opportunities are been offered for free on a first come first served basis in groups of six . If the demand is there we are hoping under the latest guidelines that we can increase numbers so please don’t miss out as it’s going to be a long summer and as a committee we would like to give something back to the community and get people back out missing again in a safe and controlled environment as it’s been a long few months I think we will all agree .
Any questions or queries to come to the sports committee and if we can’t answer them we will contact Graham or Joe .

Ollie's 100 Mile Fundraiser Bike Ride

Ollie's 100 Mile Ride for Burton Memorial Hall

One of the hall's young users, Ollie, who is missing attending events at the Hall whilst we have to remain closed in the COVID-19 crisis, has offered to raise some funds for the Hall by doing a 100 mile sponsored bike ride in June, and he is seeking sponsors on his Go Fund Me page to help him hit his target. Any amount will be welcome, and please will you also share on the appeal with your friends and family for Ollie as well? Many thanks, and a big cheer for Ollie. Go Fund Me

Fly Tipping Is Illegal

There has been a number of instances of fly tipping in the parish. Just because the tips are closed is absolutely no excuse for fly tipping. If you have rubbish then store it on your own land until you can dispose of it properly. If you see fly tipped material please report it to SLDC via the form on their website here if it's on the Cumbria side of the county border, or to Lancaster City Council via their website form here if on the Lancashire side of the county border.
