Burton-in-Kendal is a small village straddling the A6070 road in the south of the county of Cumbria. It has a population of around 1500 people (1473 at the 2021 Census), and contains approx 700 dwellings. Burton has a memorial hall, a primary school, an Anglican church, a multi-use games area, one working pub (and one closed one), and a village store / post office. The nearest petrol station is Mossdale Services, approx 1 mile away on the A6 at Hale. There is an hourly bus service (555 or 556) through the village Monday-Saturday linking Kendal and Lancaster. A limited Sunday service operates in the summer months.
